Tough Mudder Whistler
Posted: Tuesday, June 03, 2014
The ultra popular Tough Mudder event is back for another year of kicking butts and taking names. During the Mudder participants must complete a 12KM course riddled physically challenging obstacles.
When the Tough Mudder was first conceived it was set up to mimic a military style obstacle course that Special Forces would use during training exercises. Over the years the event has gained in popularity and now Tough Mudder events take place throughout the world. This year's event marks the 4th time Tough Mudder has visited Whistler and to accommodate the popularity of the event two separate running's of the event will take place on Saturday, June 21st and Sunday, June 22nd.
What makes the Tough Mudder so unique is the various obstacles participants must negotiate during the 12KM course. In the past obstacles have included wall climbs, electric shock therapy, ice bath, Olympic ring swing, log carrying, rope swing and many more. The obstacles portions of the course are always the most popular aspect of the race with Mudders often having to band together as teams to complete each stage.
Because certain obstacles require help participants are encouraged to form teams with friends or people they've just met at the event. Several of the obstacles will require a helping hand during the event so it's always a good idea to have a teammate by your side in times of need.
Once you and you're team have crossed the finish line there will be a frosty beer waiting for you in the post race area. For those looking to keep the party going there will be an official Tough Mudder After Party located somewhere in the Whistler Village.
Tough Mudder Location
This year's Tough Mudder Whistler will once again take place at Whistler Olympic Park located in the Callaghan Valley. The Callaghan Valley is located approximately a 25 minute drive away from the Whistler Village.
The cost to participate in the Tough Mudder is $195. Included in your registration is a Tough Mudder T-shirt, headband and post race beer.
