2013 Whistler Film Festival

With the 2013 Whistler ski season officially starting on November 28th, the Whistler Film Festival will be a good chance to take a few days off with the event running from December 4th - 8th. The 13th annual edition of the event is renowned by filmmakers and film lovers, with a chance to celebrate artists and finding inspiration. The innovative festival features a number of highlights each day. Below are four of these that you must not miss.

China Canada Gateway for Film Script Competition

Chinas film industry is booming. At the WFF 3 Chinese studios give a chance to 12 Canadian writer/producer teams who have been selected to pitch their story idea to them. Witnessing these pitches is amazing given the time and effort that goes into what could be an international hit. Seating is limited and a Pitch Only ticket is required to guarantee you a seat to view the amazing pitches.

Celebrity Ski Challenge Race

On December 7th, you and three team members form a team with a filmmaker, director or actor in a dual slalom race. The team who guesses closest to their actual time wins. Afterwards there is an on-mountain luncheon and prize giving. You can register on the day if you want and all net proceeds will be donated to the Whistler Film Festival Society Charitable.

The Films

With the schedule of films to be released on November 1st, there are bound to be a few gems that will take your breath away having being hand selected from hundreds of submissions to be shown at the festival. They too will be looking to take down their categories award at the closing gala.

Opening and Closing Gala Presentations

The opening and closing gala celebrity attendees have not been released officially but there is sure to be some household names present at the red carpet event. In August a few names were mentioned that are likely to attend, including Director Jason Priestly, US Champion Snowboarder Kevin Pearce and writer-director Craig Goodwill. 
The Whistler Film Festival is a great event with celebrities in town joining the thousands of early season snow goers, the town is buzzing for five days. There are some great highlights at the festival, inspiring you to work towards your dreams.
