Telus Whistler Ski & Snowboard Festival

Experience the legendary Telus Ski & Snowboard Festival in Whistler from April 13-22.  There will be 10 days and 10 nights of not to be missed events.  This is Whistler's end of season celebration of winter sports, culture, arts and music.  Enjoy free concerts daily on the main stage in the Skiers Plaza and watch top athletes compete in ski and snowboard competitions.

Highlights of the festival include:

• Big Hip - Saturday April 14

Join the crowds at the base of Whistler Mountain to watch the world's best snowboarders compete on a huge hip jump in a 2 round elimination and super final format for $25,000 in prize money.

• Swollen Members - Saturday April 14

Swollen Members are from Vancouver and Victoria.  This hip hop band is a festival favourite, and promises to light up the main stage in the Skiers Plaza.  Check them out on the main stage on Saturday afternoon.

• PechaKucha - Monday April 16

Get your tickets early for this fun and stimulating event.  PechaKucha is named for the sound of 'chit chat' in Japanese.  It is now a worldwide phenomenon held in hundreds of cities across the globe. Presenters are challenged with communicating their thoughts, ideas and concepts in short bursts of 20 x 20 second Power Point slides.  Lots of fun!  This event takes place at Maxx Fish at 8pm.

• Olympus 72hr Filmmaker Showdown - Tuesday April 17

If you are lucky enough to have tickets to this event, you will not be disappointed!  This event attracts some of the biggest names in ski and snowboard filmmaking. The competition involves shooting, producing and editing a 5-7 minute film shot over the 7 previous days. The films must all be shot from within 100km of Whistler and must include park and in-bound terrain.

• Fashion Exposed and Freeze Dance Showcase - Friday April 20

Get your tickets early for this great event!  This show is held at the Whistler Conference Centre and features some of the edgiest, fashion-marries-function brands available.  A great collection that will represent the Whistler style both on and off the hill.  The Freeze Dance Showcase return to the festival to throw down their moves and elevate the energy levels at Fashion Exposed.

• Big Air - Saturday April 21

This is the most anticipated event at the festival.  Join the huge crowd at the base of Whistler Mountain and watch the mind-boggling aerial talents of the top skiers in the world. DJ Grandtheft will be on the main stage to keep the crowds pumped during the competition.
